UNLIKE other councils, Wirral Council does not accept plastic food trays in our grey recycling wheelie bins.
Until earlier this year, a private company provided large containers for these plastics to be collected for recycling, these were situated to the side of the entrance road to the Upton Retail Park.
My single occupancy household has collected in five weeks since this company withdrew this service.
Imagine this amount multiplied by a million (10 x 100,000 ie approximate for total weeks in the year x approximate number of households in Wirral).
This would be the huge mountain of plastic annually that WBC commits direct to landfill.
We pay council tax, the council should ensure that, like other councils, this plastic is properly recycled.
