YET again this council has put the council tax up by more than 5%.

I live on a private pension which is to rise in line with last September’s inflation rate of 5%.

My meagre increase is more than wiped out by the council tax rise.

Being employed in the private sector for many years I know of the scandal of this council’s inability to collect on its debts, ie, council tax arrears.

Do you know there are residents in Wirral that owe over £30,000 in over paid housing benefit.

I suggest the council collects on its arrears instead of squeezing the payers till they squeak.
