NEWS that the Birkenhead docks is at last being developed along with the demolition and development of the flyover area is fantastic and exciting.
However the Cinderella of the Wirral, West Kirby, is overlooked yet again.
The area around the concourse is a disgrace for a town that is aspiring to be a holiday destination for day trippers.
The hard landscaping and broken walls along with the now defunct fire station are long overdue for upgrading.
At one point the crescent was to be pedestrianised.
What happened?
We can destroy the promenade to provide a so-called 'flood defence', but we cannot keep the infrastructure of the town in decent order.
The many small businesses do an excellent job but surely for not a great deal of funding in comparative terms the town could be made to like like it should an attractive seaside resort.
