I was pleased for Hoylake to read in your (excellent) Globe article that the scruffy boats on the Parade will be removed.
At the same time, though, I was surprised and angry.
Individual Heswall residents and the Heswall Society have been complaining for years - to Wirral Borough Council, local councillors and our MP - about the lack of action in removing the far greater number of dilapidated boats on Heswall foreshore.
The boats started as an attractive picturesque scene but have long since deteriorated into what is merely a mega-fly-tipping dangerous eyesore.
Boats have clearly been simply dumped and abandoned there to save the owners the cost and inconvenience of disposing of them.
To see the boats at Hoylake being removed when our problem is far greater is a real slap in the face for Heswall residents.
I invite WBC, the Hodsons and Alison McGovern to respond - this time with a definite timebound plan for removal and not the usual stream of delaying platitudes.
Most recently, we have been fobbed off with “the Council will deal with it once restrictions are eased”.
Come on, really?
We pay the same Council Taxes as Hoylake!
