Happy to get jab ON Burns Night, January 25, I celebrated my 70th birthday.
Among the cards, presents and greetings was an invitation to book a jab.
This speed and efficiency is awesome. It looks as if, for once, the government is learning some lessons from its mistakes.
It is no accident that the vaccine delivery has been delegated to the NHS and local authorities unlike the procurement of PPE and the ineffectual operation of track and trace, which were outsourced to private enterprises such as Serco and Deloitte.
It’s far from over, let’s not forget.
The vaccines still leave room for infection and transmission so we must continue to exercise selfdiscipline and look after one another.
Boris seems at last to be erring on the side of caution. He needs to be much firmer about border controls and get a grip on on PPE, track and trace and care homes and it is still far too early to relax restrictions on schools.
