I visited the Asda store in Birkenhead and was horrified by the number of customers putting others at unnecessary risk, many by not wearing any face covering at all, and others using masks to keep their chins warm or failing to actually cover their nose, just making a token (read "useless") gesture.
I was pleased to see that staff, including security staff, were complying, but the customers who weren’t were placing them, as well as we other customers, at unnecessary risk.
It’s a pity that Asda feel unwilling to enforce the rules as understood by the rest of us, the more responsible customers, and thus failing in their duty of care to us and to their staff.
It’s also saddening that the reputation of Birkenhead residents should be left so damaged by an irresponsible minority.
