DURING a regular cycle ride along our wonderful coastline between Leasowe lighthouse and Leasowe Bay on Sunday, I decided to ride along the sloped section as the pathway on the top was busy with walkers.
I have done this for years without issue.
I am an experienced cyclist and kept well clear of the slippy mossy or damp section at the bottom, near the sand.
Unfortunately, I lost control and slid at speed for 20 feet on the the concrete surface.
Very painful cracked rib, cuts, abrasions and shock resulted.
It was as slippy as ice.
I would like to thank Neil, an off duty paramedic and also a young nurse who were so kind and concerned.
The slippy area looked normal but unusually had a light, invisible covering of slippy silt.
Other walkers were slipping and sliding and I was shouting to make others aware of the hazard.
