ONCE again, another infuriatingly one-sided article on street lighting, and once again, the reporter avoids questioning streetscene’s repeated failure to address the worst black spot (all of Liscard town centre).

Even more disappointing is that our local councillors and MP have also done very little towards redressing this situation.

Liscard Village is shocking - with all but two lights broken for the last four years.

At least 20 streetlights are currently out around the whole town centre. So far, they’ve only replaced two with LEDs this year - one on Wallasey Road, the other outside Manor Health Centre.

It's only taken them four years to do so.

That is truly pathetic.

I was informed that all of Liscard’s lights were to be replaced from last November as part of the SSE contract, with the whole area being tackled first as a priority due to the number of lights that have failed since 2016, but they have not completed the work.

Another year has now elapsed and yet still they keep ignoring Liscard - and just drip-feed one or two desultory repairs every eight months - whilst carrying out complete replacements to other roads where the lights aren’t even broken.

It is high time they ‘ramped up’ their efforts to sort out these faults once and for all.

With another lockdown coming, surely that’s a perfect opportunity for them to crack on and work through every main road and get these replacements done.

There are really no more excuses for any further delays.
