I refer to a letter of mine which you published under my heading No going back on the subject of the suspension of Tunnel Tolls during the Lock Down.

How short is a memory? How soon do we forget?

Remember just seven short months ago, these fine words from Metro Mayor Rotherham and Council Leader Polhill?

“Absolutely the right thing to do (suspend Tolls)” (Rotherham).

“(it) penalises essential workers and volunteers who have to pay Tolls to go to work” (Polhill).

So, it’s back to “business as usual” with essential workers being fleeced for Tunnels.

It WAS right to lift the Crossing Charges for essential workers.

They ARE still essential. It is becoming clear that ALL workers are essential to the national economy. It is time to Scrap Tolls on all Mersey Crossings.
