DURING the mid 1950s, when I was 13, I was sent to live with my fathers family in Port Sunlight following the death of my mother.

I only stayed a short time before returning to live with my father in Loughborough.

This was time enough to go to school. Was it called Eastfields or Eastgates?

I remember the uniform was brown. I walked to school with Peter Lister.

I have lost contact with my family and I now would like to enlist the help of your readers in finding them or their descendants. The family name was Lawrence.

My father was known as Vic, his siblings were Doris, Gordon, Jack, Don and Dick. I stayed with my Uncle Jack and Auntie Kathleen in 34 Park Road. They had four children John, Anne, David and Janet.

Auntie Kathleen worked at Clatterbridge Hospital. John joined the navy.

Anne and Tom kept The Bird in Hand pub, and David moved to Canada. Cousin Janet married on July 30, 1966. What a day that was!

England won the World Cup.

All the men stole away from the reception in order the watch the match on television.

My other cousins were: Gordon and Lucy’s daughter Lesley; Don and Kathleen’s children Betty and Donald; Dick and his wife Lena had one son named Gordon.

Doris had no children and lived with her mother, my grandma Lawrence, in New Chester Road.

My name is now Dawn Widdowson and I live between York and Hull.

If any of your readers remember any of my family or have any information I would love to hear from them. My phone number is 0787 964 8226.
