I write in support to Jan Bowen and Gary Garland re: a dog-free zone along our coast.
Having a dog or dogs is a great comfort, joy and even a necessity to many people in this area.
However, many have a different opinion.
I regularly cycle along the bike lanes and on the foreshore and have often encounters with uncontrolled, over friendly or aggressive dogs over the years.
I have heard 'he's just being friendly', 'he won't bite you' to 'he doesn't like bikes' a number of times and have been bitten and knocked off as a result.
A dog-free area would be a great idea for many people who are intimidated and would sometimes like break from of our four-legged friends, who in their master’s blinkered eyes, can do no wrong.
