I WRITE as the proud secretary of Glenavon JFC.
At the initiative of committee member Mike Cotgrave, to re-engage all players during this difficult time, it was agreed the club would do a virtual run from our ground The Glen to Wembley Stadium.
We hoped to raise a couple of thousand pounds for local charities who have seen a reduction in donations during the coronavirus pandemic.
All players, managers, parents and committee members embraced the project with gusto (to include our over age teams) and the run was an outstanding success.
The club raised over £10,000 for Claire House, Wirral Hospice St John’s and The Paul Lavelle Foundation.
Everybody should be proud of this achievement.
