AS a homeowner and council taxpayer, it is disturbing to find, walking on Wirral coastal park during the coronavirus outbreak for daily exercise, the amount of dog fouling along and around the Gun site and associated walking path ways was horrendous.

This area has been taken over by dog walkers. Professional dog walkers with up to five dogs have also been spotted invading the public space even more.

It would be hard for any family to take their children for a picnic or exercise during lockdown or any other time without the high risk of stepping in dog foul or even having unleashed dogs jumping up at you or your child.

As a dog lover myself I still believe the Gun site and the walk across the top of the pathway should be fenced off, as a family area only and this would force the dog walkers to go on to the beach where any fouling that is not picked up would be washed away by the tide.

This area is the nicest part of the Wirral peninsula and should be for people to enjoy with their families.

There is nowhere that is dog free.

We tried walking on Leasowe golf course only to find dog walkers with their unleashed dogs on there also.

I appreciate that there are a lot of dog owners who pick up foul but my main point is there is less space for none dog owners to walk and enjoy our beauty spots without the hassle of dogs and they think it is ok for their dogs to have a free run.
