WHY does Meols deserve better than the rest of us?

I read with interest in the Wirral Globe's May 20 edition End of line for a 'blot on landscape' railway fence.

Merseyrail have erected a new fence at Birkenhead Road, Meols.

You know, the style of fencing that you see across the whole Merseyrail network near stations in towns, fields, greenbelt and brown belt alike.

Well, from the article, it would appear that the good people of Meols feel that they are deserving of a fence more in tune with their upper-middle class outlook.

This is a perfectly reasonable newly-erected fence and I am disgusted that councillors have seen fit to waste Merseyrail funds by campaigning for its removal and replacement.

If this style of fence is not good enough for Meols then surely it is not good enough for any other site near to the railway anywhere on Wirral.

Therefore I expect to see Moreton councillors campaigning for an upgrade to the fence (same design at Moreton), Bidston councillors campaigning for an upgrade to the fence (same design at Birkenhead North), Rock Ferry councillors campaigning for an upgrade to the fence (same design at Rock Ferry), etc etc.

How much will Merseyrail end up out of pocket having to erect, remove then re-erect this fence line?
