WITH regard to the demolition of the pensioner's unsafe wall, reported, in Wirral Globe on March 6, clearly the council acted for the public’s safety, though the circumstances were unfortunate.
Any delay might have lead to the wall's collapse and maybe harmed a child.
The wall appears to have been unsafe from the day it was built.
The two walls were not even mortared together for mutual support and there appears to be no bricks laid sideways to bond them together.
Judging by the debris, the mortar that was used had little cement in it and was chiefly sand, relying on gravity to keep it up. A real ‘cowboy builder’s job’. Wallace and Gromit could have done better.
