I AM an amateur historian in search of some information.
During World War Two hundreds of thousands of Italian and German POWs were held in camps throughout the UK.
At the end of the war, many of these POWs stayed on to live in the areas where they were held and worked on local farms and industries.
One POW camp was recorded as being located at Parkgate.
The only published information is that it was based on a previous Heavy Anti-Aircraft Battery site in the area.
Despite searches of documents and old maps, no further information has been found.
Would any of your readers be able to recall, or perhaps have heard from their parents, where the camp was located?
I publish the information received free of charge (www.ww2pow.uk) so that it may be used by local and family historians.
I can be contacted at kg6gb@hotmail.com
