STEVE Rotherham, mayor of Greater Liverpool (where ever that is), is calling for bus companies to be regulated by the local area, in terms of fares and routes.
Firstly, he is not elected by Wirral residents only by a Mayor (since resigned) of Wirral.
So what power does he have?
Secondly, there are two bus companies formed after deregulation and only ever wanted profitable routes, which saw a massive hike in bus fares.
Wirral has, over the years, seen services chopped and changed and, of course, fares rocket.
It has been 50 years since Wirral had a great service with Birkenhead and Wallasey Corporations and Crosville motors providing our buses.
With nobody around capable of following their provision of services, who does Mr Rotheram think will run the buses?
Not commercial companies only interested in profit, your on a lose-lose situation, end of story.
