I NOTE with interest the comments in the Globe by some Oxton residents concerning the painting of a mural celebrating our local football club, Tranmere Rovers.
My first point is that we are not talking about some shoddy graffiti randomly daubed on a wall, but it is a form of celebration of a local club who have helped put the Wirral on the map through their exploits over the last thirty years or so.
We should not be talking about Oxton as if it is a quaint little village full of Grade 1 listed buildings.
There are plenty of stark walls that can be improved by thoughtful street art celebrating the Wirral.
I'm sure if Banksy had deigned to scrawl on a wall there, there would be little protest.
I have to add that Tranmere do an awful lot of work in the community throughout Wirral, combined with charity work throughout the year.
So, please allow our club to be honoured by this tasteful and colourful work of art.
