THE Wirral Globe reports a council financial deficit of £12million.
On past history of Wirral Council's book keeping it is likely to be more than that amount to be met, yet again, by the council tax payer.
Why is the council constantly short of money?
One major reason is the rank incompetency of those who run the council.
The chief executive and his acolytes are paid very large salaries; when their deficiencies are exposed they leave the council, often with generous pay offs and enhanced pensions, often to appear in another local authority in similar highly paid positions.
Local government is an incestuous outfit.
When recruiting senior staff we, who pay their salaries, are told we must pay "big bucks to attract the best qualified."
In fact we pay large sums for at best mediocrities.
