I READ with interest the article headlined Let there be light as council replaces 9,000 streetlamps.

For the past 18 months street lights have not been on in Ford Road, Upton, this has been reported to the council and local councillors many times but nothing has been done about it.

Also the street lights are off at the busy Sainsbury's Upton roundabout, seven lights on the Upton bypass, three on Ford Hill and nine on the main Beechwood to Bidston Road.

These are all busy dangerous areas and I feel the council should get these in working order before replacing lights that are already working.

The article next to this in the Wirral Globe is about a new bike repair stand in Hoylake, funded and set up by Wirral Council.

Surely money would have been put to better use getting street lights repaired which would serve the majority rather than the minority?
