I WOULD wholeheartedly agree with A Reid of Heswall’s criticism of Cheshire Police in last week’s Globe letters, who have obviously run out of criminals to catch and crimes to solve, as their officers seem to be constantly employed in operating speed traps that usually only catch motorists slightly exceeding the speed limit, rather than the real menace of boy racers tearing about with absolutely no regard for speed limits who almost always get away with it as there are never any police cars or patrols around.
Merseyside Police closed down Heswall police station some years ago and are practically invisible most of the time.
Lazy speed traps are simply a cynical revenue raising exercise and do nothing to foster good relations between the police and the public.
