AS a resident who, like many others have no option but to pay our council taxes, how is it that those who are supposedly running our borough highways simply cannot get some pressing and urgent street lights repaired or replaced, even after close on five years of having to wait for them to do so?

What exactly constitutes a "priority" for them?

After more than three years of reminders, we were even told by our local councillor that a replacement was on the way as far back as December, 2017, for the broken light on the junction of Church Road and Borough Road right next to the Five Bars Rest social club.

Then it was spring 2018 ... but, so far, absolutely nothing.

I only live not far behind here with two further lamps broken and left ignored for years just around the corner.

I deeply suspect that they are focusing on the affluent areas first and leaving us until the very last.

Do they not realise that this makes our streets less safe than they already are at night?

It's an absolute farce that, despite their promises of lights being replaced since 2017, they still haven't found the time or made an effort to sort out this black spot.

There is a second headless column opposite the Home Bargains store together with many other lights which remain out in the area.

Do these people ever take note of residents feelings over these matters?

Evidently not.

Disgusted.
