AS we stand on the precipice of a no-deal Brexit, and with repeated warnings of potential civil unrest and disruption of our day-to-day lives, it shocked me to discover that local tax-payers are facing a staggering increase of over 20% in what they pay in Merseyside Police precept as part of their total tax bill over the next two years, while LOSING more than 50 officers and PCSOs from our streets.
It is as simple as "pay more, get less" and it does not stand to reason.
With the Merseyside Police & Crime Panel meeting on Tuesday to endorse or veto this proposal, I strongly hope sanity prevails and the idea abandoned.
