ALONG with many local residents, I am astounded at Wirral Council's refusal to call a moratorium on the on-going horrific tree felling in Ashton Park in West Kirby.
A recently formed group ForTrees Wirral had a petition of 480 signatures handed in to full council meeting before Christmas by the ward councillor Gerry Ellis.
But it seems that petition has been lost within their system.
Trees are an important part of our landscape heritage for so many reasons.
Health giving on many levels for wildlife and for oxygen that we ALL need.
Merseyside is one of the highest polluted areas in the country in parts where lung issues are a big medical problem for our local NHS and people of Wirral.
Trees play a crucial active part in the public’s health.
