I SEE that Arriva Buses are yet again withdrawing another bus service in Wallasey (Service 408) finishing on January 20.

With living on Poulton Road in Wallasey, we now find that we have lost four services on that stretch of road in the past 12 to 18 months including the 403 Seacombe to Arrowe Park Hospital,

and now service 408 Birkenhead to Wallasey Village.

With the demise of Avon Buses we also lost service 124 and 125.

This means there is no effective service along Poulton Road (connecting Seacombe with Wallasey Village after 6pm) and NO evening services at all.

Elderly/disabled citizens are now being forced to either walk through Liscard Central Park or to Gorsey Lane to catch another service.

Arriva are renowned for scrapping services and recently scrapped the 10A and 83A services they recently acquired from Avon Buses.

Allegedly, there was a public consultation on whether to keep or scrap services but yet again it appears Arriva don't listen to the public.

With Arriva being the only bus operator is it about time Arriva tell the public what their real intentions are rather than take on services for them to be scrapped a short time afterwards?

Isn't it about time Arriva had competition from another Bus operator in Wallasey so they don't have a monopoly over transport in that area?
