THE edition of this paper, dated October 17, has a major article regarding the proposed closure of several "walk-in and minor injuries" in Wirral, including my local one at Eastham clinic.

So, let's consider what options I will have then with a minor, but painful, injury such as a dislocated thumb which, as of now, can be dealt with at Eastham within 15-20 minutes, overall.

I could try to Arrowe Park Hospital, despite the added pain caused by using the steering wheel - but that would take between 25 and 45 minutes, depending on the traffic on the M53 motorway and the infamous road junction close to the hospital - and it would be a technical breach of the driving laws.

It also carries the £3.20 parking charge at the hospital car park - which is commonly nearly full, presently, for most of the daytime!

I could take to the buses, but there are NO buses from Eastham or Bromborough, or indeed Bebington, Tranmere or Rock Ferry, that directly go to the hospital (bus routes 41, 41A and 42 - but they DO go at night).

Perhaps Wirral Clinical Commissioning Group needs a new, senior member - a simple member of the general public, whose name and address is well known and published and whose words on any proposals, either behind the scenes or in public, carry weight.

I look forward to their response and those of others in the Wirral Globe.

Eric R Foulkes, Bromborough.
