THERE has been some concern raised by residents and in the local media that the walk-in centres and minor injury/illness units in Wirral will be closing.

What we are proposing is to replace the walk-in facilities for adults with urgent GP or nurse appointments, for anyone who needs them, in local areas.

This is in addition to a new urgent treatment centre at Arrowe Park Hospital and an urgent care service for children within local areas.

Both the urgent treatment centre and the urgent care service for children will offer a walk-in facility and bookable appointments.

We are also proposing a dressings - wound care service in these same local areas, which would be accessed via a bookable appointment.

Our aim is to make our local urgent care system work better for patients supported by an improved NHS 111 service and more help from community pharmacists.

This will help us take pressure off our only Accident & Emergency department so it can help those with the greatest need.

No decisions have been taken at this point, and we want to hear from as many people as possible during our consultation period, which runs until midnight on December 12, 2018.

People can also contact us on 0151 541 5416 or wiccg.urgentcarereview@nhs.net to share their views, or for hard copies or for alternative formats of our consultation documents.
