ANYONE who has watched the recent BBC series Back in Time for the Factory will have seen discrimination and gross inequalities suffered by women in the 1960s and '70s.

What they may not realise is that these are the very same 1950s-born women who have now been most adversely affected by changes in the State Pension age, with little or no notice, which has meant their paid for and expected pension has been delayed by up to six years.

In a recent report for the UN it says: "... the State has discriminated against these women, because they are women, as the measures only seriously adversely affect women born in the 50s, made the economic and health position of women born in the 50s significantly worse and thereby have infringed their human rights and fundamental freedoms ..."

A recent Freedom of Information request has revealed that there are more than 21,000 women in this age group living in Wirral.

I would urge them to write to their MPs about this injustice and make a formal complaint to the DWP, letter templates are available on www.waspi.co.uk

On October 10 there is a national rally in London, bringing together shoulder to shoulder, all of the groups fighting this pension injustice.

Many local women will be attending.
