WITH regards to the proposed parking charges along Meols Parade, what a ridiculous and ill-thought idea this is, and one which will surely serve only to line the profits of the companies installing and maintaining the equipment.

Of the few people who park along this part of the promenade, these may include those who walk dogs, go for a cycle ride, a short walk or to partake in general exercise/leisure activities, and thus parking in a nearby side road a few metres away at no cost, will make no difference to them.

Then, there may be elderly or disabled people, and they will likely have a blue badge.

There maybe some who park up to observe the views or have lunch, and they will just simply move on should some ticketing person appear.

So who does that leave?

The occasional visitor who may be new to the area and daft enough to pay up!

And, of course the residents who maybe do not have off road parking or live in already congested side roads!

As far as residents are concerned, this will make life all that more difficult for them and who knows what impact this will have on any visitors or care or support workers who will face the added concern and frustration of these parking restrictions.
