I REFER to your article headlined Reflections by Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram.
His first reflection is on working to ensure a 21st Century transport system.
Unfortunately, he remains entrenched in the 18th Century, relying on methods of extracting revenue from tolled roads.
Motorists have to cross the river on essential journeys for work, hospital, carers and family reasons.
They should not be taxed for having to do this.
I fully support his efforts to harness tidal power to generate electricity.
A promising development of future technology to sell to many other markets.
However, he must seriously consider giving a further significant boost to the local economy by scrapping the tolls which form a barrier to cross river movement, trade and communications.
