AS I drive around Wirral in my majestic 14-year-old Rover 75, I find that I am increasingly catching the attention of other drivers; particularly those driving a Mercedes Benz, Audi, BMW or 4X4.
They invariably feel the need to drive up fast and close to the back of my car, sound their horn, flash their lights and then overtake, regardless of oncoming traffic or a traffic or a 30mph zone.
When I eventually catch up with them at the next set of traffic lights and signal my arrival with a toot of my horn, a flash of my lights and a wave, I am often greeted with a V for Victory sign – therewith confirming our good fellowship and reminding one of the chivalrous spirit that helped us survive the last war.
