My name is Wendy Robinson and I have been running slimming clubs on the Wirral for 17 years.

Duing that time I have come across every fad diet and some downright dangerous diets that promise you will lose 14lbs in a week, but once you have a couple of decent meals, lo and behold it all piles back on again.

My aim with this blog is to change your attitude to food forever and show that you can eat amazing meals. Combined with a bit of moderate exercise you can become the person you have always wanted to be.

This is week one so we are going to start with one of the most important steps, which is having realistic expectations of weight loss.

As I have said previously, rapid weight loss means rapid weight gain so the slower we lose it the less likely it is that you will regain the weight.

One of the reasons for this is that in order for you to lose weight slowly you don't have to make drastic changes, therefore you are more likely to persevere.

You can still have your nights out you can still have a takeaway once a week but it's all about making sensible food choices; we will explore this in more depth as we go along.

Exercise is proven to help with weight loss and we will be covering that also.

Remember, everything starts slowly and if you overload yourself you are more likely to give in.
