CARLSBERG West Cheshire League Division One outfit Ashville locked horns with Lancashire County FA counterparts Burscough and emerged 3-0 victors in Saturday's Northern Counties Senior Cup final.

On 30 minutes, Tommy Quinn turned sharply and gave Ashville the lead which was doubled with 14 minutes remaining, through Ben Greenop.

Four minutes later and a crisp finish from Jake Prescott sealed Burscough's fate.

Prior to the kick off, a minute's silence was observed in memory of former Ashville Secretary, John Lawrenson, who sadly passed away last week.

South Liverpool's coronation as Division One champions four the third time in four years was confirmed after they beat Ashville 3-2 on Monday.

Title rivals, Ashville, went down for the second time in three days, losing 4-2 to Newton on Wednesday.

Goals from Mike White, Ross Waring and Adam Campbell anchored Vauxhall Motors to a 3-1 victory over Redgate Rovers while a Paul Linfield penalty earned Heswall maximum spoils against West Krby.

Jonathan Parkinson emerged the hero of the hour after his hat trick steered Richmond Raith Rovers to a 5-3 decision over Neston Nomads.

Two own goals cost Upton AA dearly after they lost 3-2 to Newton and Rainhill Town extended their unbeaten run to 13 games after beating West Kirby 4-0.

Long-time Division Two pacesetters Hale rubber-stamped their elevation to the top flight but were indebted to a solitary effort from Jack Walker which won the day at Heswall Res.

Despite suffering a 2-1 defeat to Prescot Cable Reserves in midweek, Ellesmere Port Town remain favourites to join Hale in Division One next season, after Adam Storton (2), Jack Boldeston and John Wainwright found the net in Saturday's 4-3 eclipse of Mossley Hill Ath Res.

Luke Fitzgibbon gave Vauxhall Motors Res the lead at Maghull Res, but it was the hosts who profited via a 3-1 scoreline courtesy of replies from Steve Carroll, Dave Lynch and Mark Madden.

A brace of penalties from Dave Mee set South Liverpool Res up for a 6-1 win against Willaston.

Division Three leaders, Litherland Remyca Res, overcame Marshalls Res 2-1 with Jack Edwards and Mark Barnes on the mark.

Rivals Page Celtic won by the same margin against Burscough Dynamo, and maintained interest, thanks to a goal apiece from Louis Ventre and Danny Sherlock.

Thursday's Jimmy Brain Youth Plate final was barely 45 seconds old when South Liverpool Youth's Mike Kielty bagged the game's only goal to deny Vauxhall Motors Youth.

Kielty was on target again on Saturday, as South's youngsters up the ante in their bid to achieve a league and cup double when they overcame Maghull Town 4-2.

Jordan McDonagh (2) and Chris Wilkinson also netted for the winners.
