OLD Parkonians 1st XI won again last weekend to extend their lead at the top of Cheshire Cricket League Division Four.

As if the 33-run victory from the previous week wasn't enough, this game at Pott Shrigley proved an even more tense affair.

Old Parkonians won the toss and elected to bat on a hard and dry wicket.

Much like the week before, the weaknesses in the top order were again exposed as the visitors found themselves in trouble at 53-6 on a wicket that wasn't playing as well as it looked.

A vital knock of 41 from Greg Lindop was key in Old Parkonians under-par total of 120 all out.

With the total on the board, the Old Parkonians bowlers again backed themselves to thwart the run chase.

Shrigley appeared to be comfortable in their chase at 47-3 with both batsmen at the crease well established.

Ben Rees (14-6-19-2) again bowled superbly with his epic spell in the searing heat.

Once the vital partnership had been broken, Lewis Elwood, Dan Berkson and Adam Westwater chipped in with a couple of wickets each as the wickets then came at regular intervals, bringing the game to a dramatic conclusion.

The last pair were at the crease with nineteen runs to score from eight overs when they tried to turn a quick single into a two, but Lewis Elwood's throw back in to Beckett was very sharp, allowing Beckett to remove the bails sparking fantastic scenes as Old Parkonians claimed another 25 points.

Pott Shrigley 102 all out.

Scores: Old Parkonians 120-10 (29.5 overs), Pott Shrigley 102-10 (29.1).
