OLD Parkonians first XI won at home to Trafford MV on Saturday.

Home skipper Chris Beckett lost the toss and was asked by the visitors to bat first.

Old Parks got off to a great start with Ben Rees and Tim Hitchell looking comfortable at the crease.

Several rain intervals tried to thwart the innings and after some short delays, six overs were lost.

Rees (20) was out caught, while Chris Hitchell (0) was smartly stumped early on.

Stu Barr (30) and Dave Nedugodan (23) contributed well but it was opener Tim Hitchell, with a fine 85, who brought the hosts to 176-6 off 39 overs.

Dan Berkson opened the bowling with Lewis Elwood and it was the latter who reaped reward, claiming 3-14 from eight overs.

A very patient stance followed as the game headed for a draw with the visitors at 51-4 with just 16 overs remaining.

Beckett came on and contributed 2-15, but it was to be Adam Winstanley and his off-cutters to steal the show, reducing Trafford to 60 all out and claiming super figures of 6.2-0-13-5.

The win leaves Old Parkonians 50 points clear and only one win away from promotion.

Scores: Old Parkonians 176-6 (39 overs), Trafford MV 60 (28.2 overs)
