Division 2

Old Parkonians first XI continued their winning run at a picturesque Bowdon Vale ground last Saturday.

Skipper Chris Beckett won the toss and elected to bat first on what looked a very good pitch. Tim Hitchell (23) and Ben Rees put on 38 for the first wicket before the former was bowled.

Nick Hitchell (15) joined Rees and together they doubled the score to 76-2 with Hitchell being out caught behind.

A third Hitchell brother, Chris, now came in to bat and with Ben Rees forged a match-winning third-wicket partnership of 166 runs, taking the score to 242 before Chris was out on 9.

Ben Rees then went on to to claim a magnificent maiden century, ending his innings on an undefeated 106.

This enabled skipper Beckett to declare the Park’s innings three overs early on the impressive total of 253-3.

Bowdon Vale were never really in the hunt although their sixth- wicket pair offered some stern resistance before the last three wickets fell quickly.

Pick of the Parkonians bowlers were 17-year-old Dan Berkson returning the impressive figures of 11.5-2-46-5 and new recruit Lewis Elwood (9-3-27-3).

The winning margin was a convincing 127 runs.

The Parkonians 2nd XI enjoyed an impressive home victory by 152 runs at Holm Lane against Chester Boughton Hall 5th XI.
