A THIRTEENTH win of the season for New Brighton in the local derby against Birkenhead Park saw them open up a 36 points lead at the head of the Liverpool Competition Premier League title over nearest rivals Ormskirk who crashed to defeat at the hands of Formby.

Heavy rain cleared just in time for matches but the going was never easy.

New Brighton restricted Birkenhead to 101 of which Adam Liu contributed an unbeaten 48.

The seasiders for whom in-form Ashraf Nawab returned 5-6 had seven wickets to spare. Andrew Clarke reached 47 not out.

Wallasey lost by three wickets at Bootle and relegation is a threat. Chris Bourne did his best with a 6-59 haul.

David Tassell took 5-32 for Caldy in a two wickets home reverse against Spring View in Division Two.

Birkenhead St Mary's (Lee Roberts 67, Jake Fitzmaurice 41) went under by seven wickets at home to Burscough.

Neston lost by seven wicets at Alderley Edge in the Premier Division of the Cheshire County League.

Mahesh Rajaratne played a key role for Oxton in a 161 runs victory at Chrstleton. He took 4-15 and followed up with an unbeaten 106. Gayan Fernando claimed 6-39.

A 6-51 return by Matt Ingram could not save Upton in a 101 runs defeat at Bollington in Division Two.

Irby (Colin Gibson 4-32) lost by four wickets at Brooklands.

Port Sunlight (Ben McPherson 81, Ryan Kearney 40) were second best in their Cheshire League Division Three match at Wilmslow but only by six runs.

Old Parkonians in Division Two of the Cheshire Alliance were handed their game against Norbury without a ball bowled.
