THERE is currently no stopping New Brighton in the Premier Division of the Liverpool Competition.

The title-chasing seasiders took their latest match at home to Northern by nineteen runs and are 43 points clear at the head of the table.

Upal Fernando who was caught and bowled on 97 and Josh Rylance 69 helped Brighton reach 219-7 after they were asked to bat first.

Ashraf Nawab was key with 6-67 as the visitors were then dismissed for 200.

Birkenhead Park enjoyed a six wickets success at home to Highfield.

Chris Bellis top-scored with 34 and the bowlers to shine were Rob Houghton 4-10 and Khalid Wahbi 4-26.

Wallasey went down by 21 runs at Rainhill despite excellent performances by Greg Beaver and Lahiru Wellalege.

Opener Greg was unbeaten on 106 which included twelve fours and four sixes. Lahiru returned 6-69.

Parkfield Liscard easily claimed the Division Two derby at Birkenhead St Mary's.

The Saints total of 117 (David Stewart 34) was passed without the combined side losing a wicket. Grant Hughes 59 and Gary Ratcliff 52 were the in-form openers. Neil Hughes took 3-25 and Sadrey Depleza 3-37 for the winners.

Caldy lost by 142 runs at home to Burscough. Mike Williams 53 and Shamshir Hussain 48 batted well.

Parkfield Liscard are currently third bottom in the table with Caldy and Birkenhead St Mary's the bottom two clubs.

Neston held on for a draw at Macclesfield in the Premier Division of the Cheshire County League.

They finished on 165-9 chasing 255-8. S Mugava claimed 5-127 for Neston and Brad Donelan crucially hit an unbeaten 48.

Oxton had to settle for a Division One home draw against Tattenhall. All-rounder Mahesh Rajaraine hit 45 and took 5-30. Marc de Brabander top scored on 68.

Upton had a four wickets win at home to Brooklands in Division Two. Chris Stowell-Smith contributed 63.

Irby (Mike Newman jnr 4-50, C.Mogin 56) lost by two wickets at Bradbury St Marks.

Maritime beat Knutsford by 13 runs in Division Two of the Cheshire Alliance.

Old Parkonians lost a high scoring game at Bowdon Vale by four wickets. Best for Parks on the day were Ben Rees 76, Chris Hitchell 62 not out, Dave Nedugoden 46, and Adam Winstanley 3-39.

Eastham and Bromborough conceeded their match at Mellor.

Port Sunlight (David Scott 55, Wayne Greve 4-8) were denied victory by the last Wilmslow Wayfarers pair in Division Three of the Cheshire League.

The Wayfarers closed on 113-9 after the soapmen totalled 131.

Wirral in the same division were edged out by Sandbach by just four runs.
