NEW Brighton managed a draw at Bootle in the Premier Division of the Liverpool Competition but there were defeats for Wallasey and Birkenhead Park on a somewhat wet and miserable Saturday.

Ashraf Nawab claimed 4-35 for the seasiders and best batsmen on the day were Khurram Hussain with 57 and Luke Proctor 42.

Brighton closed 56 runs behind with four wickets intact.

Wallasey were all out for 111 at home to Ormskirk who cruised past the total for the loss of just one wicket.

Rob Houghton 3-60 and 30 did his best for Birkenhead Park but they went under by 41 runs at Lytham.

Birkenhead St Mary's just edged the verdict at home to Old Xaverians in Division Two by one wicket. Poona de Silva was the star with an unbeaten 70.

David Tassell returned 7-75 off 16.5 overs for Caldy in a six runs success at Skelmersdale. Chris Edwards contributed 36 and Alec Stewart 34.

Sadrey Depleza and Neil Hughes each took three wickets for Parkfield Liscard during a 15 runs home reverse at the hands of Hightown St Mary's.

There was no joy for Neston in the Premier Division of the Cheshire County League as they lost by six wickets at Hyde.

Oxton in Division One played out a stalemate against Oulton Park. Shaaiq was unbeaten on 68 and Mahesh Rajaratne hit 67 for the Birkenhead side.

There were draws in Division Two for Irby and Upton.

Craig Caswell 74 and Dave Newman 52 helped Irby total 197 at Alvanley who closed on 134-8 (Lloyd Eastman 5-33).

Upton reached 188-6 replying to a 269-5 score posted by visiting Stockport.

Port Sunlight enjoyed a 114 runs margin at Aston in Division Three of the Cheshire League thanks in the main to a superb unbeaten 155 by Ben McPherson.

Tranmere Vics made it by one wicket at Trafford MV in Division One of the Cheshire Allliance.

Neston welcome Nantwich in the Premier Division of the Cheshire County League.

Oxton go to Sale in Division One whilst Division Two fixtures include Irby v Stockport and Upton at Mobberley.

Cheshire Alliance games show Tranmere Vics at Westminster Park in Division One and in Division Two Audlem v Maritime, Eastham Bromborough v Bowdon Vale and Old Parkonians v Frodsham.

Division Three of the Cheshire League includes Wirral at Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge and Port Sunlight at home to Cholmondeley.
