AN unbeaten century by Upal Fernando helped New Brighton to a convincing 155 runs victory over Northern in the Premier Division of the Liverpool and District Competition.

Upal, going in at five, included ten fours and a six in his unbeaten 104.

Louis Botes contributed good support with 46 and the Seasiders were able to post 303-7 declared.

Northern were dismissed for 148 with Ashraf Nawab the best of the bowlers with 4-30.

Birkenhead Park came away 88 runs to the good from Rainhill.

Adrian Kinsey (52) and Chris Davies (48) were the best of the batsmen whilst Matt Smith finished with 4- 28.

It was not so good for Wallasey whose bowlers were on the receiving end at Leigh.

The Lancashire side was put in and rattled up 255-1 declared off 46 overs. Wallasey were all out 148 with Greg Beaver hitting 54.

Parkfield Liscard won, Caldy drew and Birkenhead St Mary’s lost in Division Two.

Greg Hughes was key for the combined side with 5-30 and 30 not out against visiting Spring View who were all out for 92 seventeen short of a winning target.

Chris Edwards included ten fours in a 107 knock for Caldy at Burscough who closed 93 runs behind with two wickets intact.

St Mary's restricted Alder to 154 but were then dismissed for 97.

Daneyal Qasim claimed 4-29 for the losers.

Neston and Oxton both lost in the Premier Division of the Cheshire County League. Luke Camden top scored with 37 for Neston who fell by seven wickets at Marple.

Marc de Brabander contributed 58 for Oxton in a nine wickets home defeat by Bramhall.

Upton in Division Two beat Poynton by 71 runs away from home. Gary Dixon took chief honours with a 6-47 return.

Ellesmere Port crashed to 49 all out at Glazeberry to lose by 155 runs in Division One of the Cheshire Alliance.

Old Parkonians (Tim Hitchell 3- 51) went under by 85 runs at home to Wilmslow.
