IT was more like winter than summer for the local cricketers last Saturday with conditions demanding to say the least but results were obtained in some matches.

Caldy will probably wish they had never started against visiting Prestatyn in Division Two of the Liverpool Competition.

They won the toss and batted but after 9.2 overs, all their batsmen were back in the pavilion with the total just 25.

Kieran New 5-4 and Samforth Perera 5-15 did the damage for the Welsh side who replied with 26-2.

Birkenhead St Mary’s (Allaud Din 32, Zaighum Abbas 4-23) lost by three wickets at St Helens Town.

Parkfield Liscard's match at Burscough was abandoned with the home side on 105-3.

Wallasey in the Premier Division saw off Bootle by 85 runs. Matty Hughes starred with a 4-22 return after top scoring on 35 when going in at number ten.

The Rainhill v New Brighton game did not get off the ground but Birkenhead Park played and went under by nine wickets at home to Ormskirk. Chris Davies tried his best with an unbeaten 56.

There was a 40 runs reverse for Neston at home to Bowdon in the Premier Division of the Cheshire County League while Oxton had to settle for a draw against Toft.

Opener Chris Hackett with 30 top scored for Neston and Richard Wilkinson had a 6-37 haul.

Marc de Brabander 51 and Glenn Querl 6-74 were in form for Oxton but Toft closed on 169-9 after the home side had declared their innings on 190-8.

In Division Two Upton crushed Congleton by nine wickets.

The visitors were put out for a meagre 37 in 27.2 overs with Liam Sundye claiming 5-5. Upton replied with 38-1.

Skipper Greg Lindop made 60 for Old Parkonians in a home draw against The Groves in Division One of the Cheshire Alliance.

Parks closed 23 behind adrift with their last pair together.

Port Sunlight could not start their innings at Wilmslow who had declared on 119-5.

Tranmere Vics in Division Two beat Offerton by 103 runs after posting 196-6 in their own innings.
