OXTON came a nine wickets cropper at Bowdon in the Premier Division of the Cheshire County League, but it was better for Neston who enjoyed a nine-wicket success at Grappenhall.

Oxton opted to bat first after winning the toss but were all at sea as they were dismissed for a meagre 43. No10 Simon Stokes top scored on 13 not out.

Bowdon eased home in 17 overs after an early loss.

Ash Davies with 6-34 helped Neston restrict Grappenhall to 101 after they were put in. Will Evans 52 and Rich Wilkinson 40 were both undefeated in the Neston reply.

Upton lost by six wickets at Stockport while Irby drew at Alvanley. Dave Newman scored 41 for Irby and their best bowlers were Mark Newman jnr 3-73 and Kagisho Pedi 3-48.

New Brighton saw off visiting Lytham by 79 runs in the Premier Division of the Liverpool & District Competition.

David While (69) and Luke Proctor (63) were the batsmen to shine. Martyn Evans took 5-42 for the winners.

Wallasey went under by eight wickets at Ormskirk but Birkenhead Park dug in for a three wickets triumph at Maghull.

Bowlers Rob Houghton 6-39 and Chris Stenhouse 4-52 played a big part.

In Division Two, Birkenhead St Mary’s saw off Sutton by 55 runs.

Usman Khushmood produced a key role with 51 and 5-36. Darcy Ward contributed 44.

A splendid 112 by Akmal Ghafoor and an undefeated 75 by Rash Riaz ensured a 134 runs margin for Parkfield Liscard at home to Hightown. The two batsmen enjoyed a 170 runs partnership.

Caldy were involved in a thrilling draw at Spring View. Haroon Khan took 5-79 as the home side totalled 190.

Caldy closed on 190-9. Brynley Richards led the way with an unbeaten 98 and Chris Edwards hit a half-century.

There was no joy for Old Parkonians at Stretton in Division One of the Cheshire Alliance.

They lost by 69 runs after being put out for 86.

Ellesmere Port (H Khan 5-41, I Iqbal 52) fell by 16 runs at The Groves.

Tranmere Vics won by four wickets at Bowdon Vale in Division Two but Maritime lost by 49 runs at Westminster Park where Pratham Shetty made 55.

Eastham Bromborough were happy with a six wickets victory over Capenhurst in Division Three.
