IT was another lovely day in Birkenhead Park for the final session of this season's Winter Flyers.

The top 16 in the points table came together and it was fitting that at the end of the morning it was the player at the top of the points table, New Brighton Quarry Viking's John Harrison, who came through to take the first prize.

In the final he beat Tixall's Robbie Fitzpatrick.

In the quarter finals Harrison beat Lever's Colin Portis and then he came through a tough match against Ray Lynch of Gladstone in the semi final.

Fitzpatrick had a great win over Hawksbury's Paul Roberts in the first round and then he was too good in the quarters for Tixall's Mick Andrews and he had another good win in tthe semis against Vic Williams of St. George's.

The final was close but Harrison is in great form at the moment and he pulled through for a 21-17 win.
