TRANMERE and Salford had to settle for a point each from a largely uneventful 0-0 draw at Prenton Park.
Salford had a great chance to open the scoring after just four minutes when Luke McGee saved well to deny Conor McAleny from close range.
Rovers had a glorious opportunity of their own in the 15th minute when Harvey Saunders raced onto a McGee clearance only to prod the ball wide with just the onrushing keeper Jamie Jones to beat.
The visitors could have gone in at half-time ahead but Kelly N’Mai’s effort from the edge of the box flew narrowly over before Kylian Kouassi also fired wide.
City started brightly after the break with McGee once again being called into action, this time to parry a Haji Mnoga effort while at the other end Omari Patrick was denied by Jones.
The home side’s best chance for a winner fell to Saidou Khan, whose close-range header was saved by Jones while Salford substitute Ossama Ashley was denied by McGee in injury time.
