ANY thoughts Cammell Lairds had of returning to winning ways were destroyed by Allscott Heath as they netted twice in the first five minutes before going on to win 4-2.
Slack marking and a goalkeeper error allowed the visitors to take early control of this North West Counties First Division South fixture which leaves Lairds winless in their last eight fixtures.
A possible offside goal inside one minute saw Will Rogers open the scoring and three minutes later Jordan Davies lobbed a hesitant keeper to make it 0-2.
Lairds rallied after this poor start but despite creating chances they failed to take them and they were punished again in the 39th minute when George Taylor beat a slow marking defence to make it 0-3 for a comfortable half time lead.
Plenty of effort was applied by Lairds in the opening exchanges of the second half but yet again poor defending was punished in the 74th minute as Davies netted his second.
Lairds did rally for the remainder of the game and Ben Graham pulled a goal back from a goalmouth scramble in the 79th before Conor Doyle added a second from the penalty spot in the 84th minute, but earlier mistakes and even more injuries for Matty Beaman, Callum Hill and Josh Henry-Reid cost Lairds dearly and they fell to a 4-2 defeat.
Next Saturday Lairds are at home against Wirral rivals Ashville with a 3pm kick off.
