FOR the second league game running Cammell Lairds failed to score at home as they drew 0-0 with Eccleshall.
Bank Holiday Monday's game had seen Lairds lose to a 75th minute own goal against New Mills as a free kick was struck against a post but the ball hit the back of diving keeper Will Ebbrell to provide the visitors with the three points.
On Saturday Lairds entertained Eccleshall and despite plenty of effort and the creation of chances they failed to find the net as shots are target were a rarity and neither keeper had a shot to save.
The result was only the fourth time in the last four seasons that Lairds have been involved in a scoreless fixture, but the worrying factor is the lack goals in a season that began brightly with the side undefeated after five games and scoring 14 goals.
In contrast the last six games has seen four defeats and only two points added as Lairds drop to seventh in the North West Counties First Division South.
Lairds travel to Barnton on Saturday with a 3pm kick off.
