PARKFIELD Liscard won the Cheshire Shield following a thrilling final on Sunday with fellow Wirral side Maritime.
Batting first, an unbeaten 50 from Vensakar Kanthiraj helped Maritime reach 192-7 off their 40 overs with Dinesh Reid (2-32) the pick of the Parkfield bowlers. Nuwan Chathuvanga's side were in deep trouble at 79-5 but were rescued by Nauman Akram who hit 82 not out to seal a two wicket win in the penultimate over.
The day before saw Wallasey move into the top three of the Liverpool Competition Premier League after denting Northern's title challenge with a two wicket win. The Crosby outfit declared on 220-3 off 49.1 overs with the hosts chasing down the target in the 59th over.
New Brighton remain rooted to the bottom after a heavy defeat at leaders Ormskirk who declared on 246-2 before wrapping up a 173 run win.
Birkenhead Park's Malinda Pushpakumara took extraordinary figures of 9-95 as Rainhill were bowled out for 221. Mark Rowland hit 77 but Park's reply fell 26 runs short.
Caldy's hopes of promotion from Division Two took a knock as they were beaten by Ainsdale. Asiri Gamage (3-30) and Piushan Gamekankanamge (3-38) restricted the visitors to 187 but Caldy's reply fell well short as they were dismissed for 109.
Parkfield Liscard warmed up for their cup success with a crushing 131 run victory over Alder.
