THE Alf McDermott Memorial Invitational Bowls Competition was held at Heswall RBL's Bowling Green over the weekend.
With total prize money of £2,000, including £600 to the winner, the contest attracted 32 of the best crown green bowlers in the UK.
The Competition was won by Gareth Coates (Yorkshire) who beat Billy Speed (Wigan) 21-15 in the Final. Beaten Semi Finalists were Matt Gilmore (Wirral) and Tommy Johnstone (Cheshire).
The organiser of the event was David McDermott who founded the competition memory of his father Alf who died on November 19 2023 and was loved by everybody in the bowls community.
