RELEGATION looks unavoidable for New Brighton at the foot of the Liverpool Competition Premier League after a seven wicket defeat at Rainhill.
The visitors were dismissed for 131 with a battling 30 from Sam Jones the only highlight before Rainhill cruised to victory.
Birkenhead Park occupy the other relegation spot following a thumping loss at Leigh. An unbeaten 51 from Andrew Clarke helped Park reach 192 all out but Karl Brown’s 116 not out carried the hosts to an eight-wicket win.
Wallasey had a day to forget as they welcomed leaders Ormskirk to Wirral with the West Lancashire outfit's bowlers dismissing the home side for just 79 before completing a seven wicket win.
In Division Two, Caldy are third after beating Southport Trinity by 84 runs. Amruth Devaraj (63) and Mohammad Rafi (51) hit half-centuries to help Caldy post 174 all out before Piushan Gamekankanamage (3-16) and Umega Chaturanga (3-18) did their job with the ball.
Parkfield Liscard look safe from the drop after picking up a fifth win of the season over Wavertree. Rasika Dahanayaka Yapa (61) top scored as the hosts made 189 all out with Jehan Yahathugoda (6-26) and Dinesh Reid (3-26) dismissing the visitors for 102.
