TRANMERE Rovers winger Rob Apter has been named League Two Young Player of the Season at the EFL Awards 2024.

Apter has been an outstanding performer for Tranmere this season since joining on loan from Blackpool last summer.

Also nominated for the award were Max Dean of MK Dons and Ethan Pye of Stockport County.

Leeds United’s Archie Gray collected the honour in the Sky Bet Championship, whilst Ronnie Edwards of Peterborough United

The EFL Young Player of the Season awards are given out divisionally to recognise the best young talent across the League. Players have to be under the age of 21, or in the season in which they turn 21.

Apter said: “To be honest, I didn’t expect this. I’m just thankful for everything that’s happened this season. The gaffer’s given me an opportunity and I couldn’t be more thankful.

"Winning this award has been the highlight of my season, for sure.

"Going out on loan has been exactly what I needed and I'm so pleased with how it's gone for me. It's an overwhelming feeling to win tonight."
